Quick n’ Dirty Cabaret 2021

Quick n’ Dirty Cabaret 2021

Gwaandak Theatre & Queer Yukon are excited to present the cabaret for a second year, returning with it’s new name, the Quick n’ Dirty Cabaret, a showcase of what the Residency artists have learned in their mentorship with drag, burlesque, and gender performance artists.
Arctic Rose she/her
The North is magic and so is she. Of Inuvialuit and Gwich’in decent her ancestors woke her to spread beauty in the world. Much more than a pretty face; Arctic Rose is a healer, business owner, and force within her own right. Described as bubbly, always down for a good time and passionate- never get on her dark side. Everyone wants a spiritual woman until she’s pissed off-now she’s a witch and your scared.
Roz Rouge she/her
(Red Rose) making her big debut, “Respect the thorn if you want this Rose”. Originally from Northern Alberta, this Cree/Irish Diva will entertain you with her bigger than life personality and curves. This long time Yukoner is no stranger to stage and film acting. Roz Rouge loves to dance for her lover like no one is watching……
Stormtrooper Sin no pronouns
AKA
Aleida Poussey
AKA
Sir Loin
a multi-medium artist. Whether seducing you as sultry singer Stormtrooper Sin, making you eat it as Aleida Poussey, or leaving you hungry for more as Sir Loin, this performer is the whole damn meal. Stormtrooper Sin has performed in a number of pride-adjacent burlesque shows in the NWT, and is eager to cook new acts for those who haven’t yet had a taste of the north.
Ashantay they/them
AKA Daddy Supreme is a newly born king/drag creature. They crawled out of the woods during the 2021 spring melt, ready to brood and gyrate their way into their audience’s hearts – and pants. They love getting naked on old trucks, Kafka, and cracking open a cold one with the boys/girls/gender-non-conforming compatriots. They’re a poet, a dancer, a lover: and they have so many more things to dry hump.
Mixence Gold he/him
an ethereal entity who just celebrated his first anniversary as a drag artist and performer. Originally from Montreal and a guest/settler on the Territories of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Mixence is known for his smooth hip movements and sultry looks. With pleasure activism and decolonization in mind, he usually leaves a trail of play and raw emotions behind him. For this performance, his motto was to shape and channel their own sensitivity and sexual energy to create intimacy. He dove into tarot and realness to meet a friend, a lover and another side of his host. What he found hit close to home.
Oliver Twirl they/them Mentor
Small in stature, large in heart and with a Publicly-Funded Flat Chest, this performer twirls around the spectrum in search of the best parts of all genders, and a new flesh suit that doesn’t hurt all the time. Disabled and ready to show you the wondrous abilities in their collection, Oliver Twirl will leave you begging for more.
Mavis Vontrese she/her Mentor
a self-proclaimed Granny Chic Supermodel of the World! She likes long walks on the beach and deep fried pickles. Known for her show-stopping performances and Sunday-best runway looks, she is a Queen for the People serving “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of sassiness!” Not only is she gorgeous and intelligent, she’s also kind…and humble. Her most notable credit, is when she played a body double on the set of the Wizard of Oz, standing in for Judy Garland. When she isn’t on-stage, Mavis can be seen doing crosswords from Tiger Beat Magazine or daydreaming about Marlon Brando. Mavis is proud to represent Blackfoot Beauties and Prairie Matriarchs.
Jolene Queen she/her
One look and your mind is blown. Jolene currently holds the title of “Drag Divinity of Yukon”. Inspired by the spiciness and flavours from Bollywood, no surprise that Jolene is all about Dance and beautiful clothing styles. She has performed her drag on various platforms in India. Jolene presents herself as a very fierce and powerful drag queen who supports women’s empowerment.
Glamstar Goldfish they/them
is a Métis bar star who first surfaced in Winnipeg in the mid-aughts. They weren’t seen for many years but have now resurfaced in Yellowknife, NT. Born of a dream to escape the weight of the world, Glamstar just wants to share the love AND the fun.
Beau Ryder they/them
is a queer Dene, tender and rough, working to fuck some shit up and ground some feelings.
Handsy Coppafeel she/her
originally hails from Amiskwacîwâskahikan (aka Edmonton). When she was 15, she moved to Sǫ̀mbak’è (aka Yellowknife) to reconnect with her Indigenous roots. From an Indigenous and West Indian heritage came a woman seeking her identity and a fine place to spread her wings. She found it performing on stage in 2009 in the city’s annual Brrrlesque shows and in the last decade, she has flourished! Her soulful song and dance keeps her spirit vibrant and her desire to share ever present. Sequins, lashes and vodka sodas are some of her favourite sources of inspiration.
